Care and Maintenance

How long does a coconut fibre scrubber last?

With regular use and proper care, each scourer can last several weeks. Rotate between the three in your set to extend their lifespan and allow each one to fully dry between uses for the longest lifespan.

How do I care for my coconut husk scourer?

After each use, rinse thoroughly to remove food debris, then gently squeeze out excess water. Store it in a dry, well-ventilated area to prevent mould or odour build-up. Avoid soaking for long periods or leaving it in a damp sink.

How do I sanitise the scourer if needed?

You can soak it briefly in a solution of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, then rinse and air dry completely. Avoid putting it in the microwave or dishwasher, as high heat may weaken the fibres.

Is this safe for non-stick pans?

Yes – the natural coconut fibres are abrasive enough to clean effectively, but gentle enough to avoid scratching non-stick surfaces. Always test on a small area first if you're unsure.

Can I use this scourer with dish soap or cleaning products?

Yes – it works well with your favourite natural dish soap or cleaning paste. Just avoid harsh chemicals or bleach-based cleaners, which can break down the fibres more quickly.

Will the scourer shed fibres over time?

Some light shedding is normal with any natural fibre product, especially in the first few uses. Unlike plastic scrubbers, these fibres are biodegradable and won’t contribute to microplastic pollution.

Can I use it outside the kitchen?

Absolutely. These scourers work well for cleaning bathroom tiles, laundry sinks, garden tools - even scrubbing root vegetables. They're a versatile, eco-friendly swap for traditional synthetic sponges.

Can I compost the scourer when it’s worn out?

Yes - the scourer is 100% compostable. Once it’s no longer effective, you can toss it into your home compost bin, garden bed or green waste collection bin. It’s made from natural coconut fibres and cotton thread, so it breaks down safely over time.

Where is the product made?

Our scourers are responsibly made in India, where coconut farming is common and the husk fibres are a natural by-product of the local food industry. Instead of going to waste, these fibres are given a second life.

Why aren’t these made in Australia?

Coconut husk - the main material used in these scourers - isn’t widely available in Australia. Coconut palms grow best in tropical climates, and Australia doesn’t produce enough coconut waste to meet demand for natural fibre products like these.

Why is this better than plastic scrubbers?

Plastic sponges shed microplastics over time and can take hundreds of years to break down. Coconut fibre scourers offer the same cleaning power without the environmental impact - they’re plastic-free, non-toxic, and fully compostable.
